This really gave me a lot of hope for the Toy Story franchise. I watched this for the first time today because I completely refused to see it in theaters. I remember thinking, “Oh my God, how many stories do we need?” I genuinely thought they should’ve stopped at Toy Story 2. But I ended up really enjoying this.
Growing up with Toy Story, I always shipped Jessie and Buzz, so seeing them finally get together almost made the story feel complete for me.
Complete spoiler ahead, but one thing that really got me was Bonnie finally making a real friend after being rejected a few times by the other kids in her dance class. Her friend, Blaze, is a brown-skinned girl, and that representation hit me way more than I expected. I’m usually not someone who gets super caught up in a character being Hispanic, Egyptian, or from any particular background, but seeing a brown girl in Toy Story with her hair texture and features, and getting a decent amount of screen time even as a supporting character, genuinely made me excited. It was everything.
I was also really nervous after seeing the Toy Story 5 trailer because I haven’t loved the direction of some of Disney’s newer animation. Movies like Elio and Hoppers just didn’t have animation styles that really clicked with me. But Toy Story felt like Toy Story. They didn’t drastically redesign everyone or lose the look and feeling of the characters. I really didn’t expect them to maintain it this well, and I’m so glad they did.
Another thing I loved was the whole iPad versus toys conflict. At first, the iPad felt really intimidating, like it represented everything that could replace the toys. But by the end, everyone came together and treated it as a tool instead of something that was destroying a child’s mind. I really liked the way they showed how helpful technology can actually be, especially for communication. That hit me on a deeper level.
Another spoiler, but the whole Emily storyline got me too. Jessie and Emily basically reunited through a photo, which gave Jessie some reassurance and helped her give the other toys some really good advice. I also wasn’t expecting Woody at all because I didn’t notice him in the photo at first. Then there were little details like the credits showing Bo Peep shading in Woody’s bald spot. There were so many small things like that that made me emotional. It sat with me so well and gave me this overwhelming feeling of nostalgia.
I wish all Disney sequels and reboots were handled like this. I’m usually the person complaining about how many sequels we really need, but this story worked so well that I’d genuinely be fine with Toy Story 6.
I especially loved all the callbacks to the previous movies. There were moments that reminded me of the first Toy Story, with Buzz and Woody chasing after the moving car through the construction area, and Toy Story 2, when the toys crossed the street using construction cones to hide themselves. So many things tied back to the older movies without feeling forced, and I loved that.
I’d honestly call this perfect. A lot of people might disagree with me, but I criticize everything, especially sequels and reboots. This is probably one of the best continuations of an older franchise I’ve seen. Everything felt connected, the characters still felt like themselves, and the attention to detail was exquisite. There are a few things I wish had been included, but nothing big enough to take away from how much I enjoyed it.
The animation, story, plot, inclusion, nostalgia, and attention to detail all worked for me. They maintained so much of what made Toy Story feel like Toy Story while still giving the story somewhere new to go. I’m very into this.
someone on here posted about white ferrari & i went back to revisit this album & they were right about how frank will make you feel so calm yet ruined at the same time. he puts every confusing thought and emotion into such good poetry with his music & tells a beautiful story with each verse. it’s like time stops and all thoughts stop rushing through your head and you can really sit and think about how you relate to his lyricism. anyway let me stop glazing this man. he need to stop playing and release SOMETHING 😫 unreleased frank go hard but i need to see a full fledged project from him again
I love this song and I'll always love it. Happy birthday, Beyoncé! 9/4
"Kitty Kat" is such a good song from the album, and I'm so glad it never got TikTokified.
TikTok is supposed to be a place for music, but sometimes people abuse it and then start calling songs "TikTok music" when they really aren't. Music is music!
The interlude for this song at the Renaissance Tour was also SO good. I don't even know exactly who produced "Kitty Kat," but they did their thing.
Funny enough, for the longest time I thought the opening lyric was, "You know I ain't sleeping alone, but you said that you would soon be home." To me, that made perfect sense! But apparently it's actually, "You know I hate sleeping alone." So she's feeling salty about him not coming home, while my version had me thinking, You know what? Go ahead. If you want to cheat on him because he's not coming back, do so." Clearly I was interpreting a completely different song, so finding out the real lyric was kind of disappointing.
But the bridge is still the BEST part. "Diamonds on my wrist, got diamonds on my necklace..." all the way through "What about my body, body?" and "You would rather go and party..." That whole section is just too good.
Now.. I know this is a place where we mostly share our favorites however I think this is also a good place to talk about everything wrong with Tygas new “album”. Obviously, ai has no place in music & will (hopefully) never replace actual artists. Tyga trying to pass whatever this mess is off as his own work just shows how lazy of an artist he is. There was zero effort put in to even make it seem like any of the work he actually made. Which, to be fair he’s put out some hits. I just find it astonishing that an entire team of people worked on this, listened to it, and gave it an okay.. I’ve heard some ai songs and while they will always have that ai cadence to them & feel less human, at least some of them made sense. Tyga really just turned the first sentence that popped up in his head into an ai prompt & said okay that’s enough work. I wish we could just ignore this album all together & not give him any attention for it but I truly think the product of this album speaks volumes about AI use in the arts. Cutting corners with AI will never turn out well. Tyga may not take this as a lesson but hopefully other artists won’t try any shit like this.
Sterling Point - Official Trailer | Prime VideoVideo
This shows fuckkssssss it's so good. Theres elements that lowkey bore me like the whole familial drama wasn't the most exciting part at all besides seeing Annie and Ramona fight and get closer over the season. It was also interesting seeing a love triangle that wasn't totally fully toxic as fuck?? I didn't loveee Rory and Annie but she was obvi feeling him and he really does care about her but his whole rich boy just here for the summer thing , the insecurity around Ellis, and all his piano shit was too reminiscent of people I've known. But Ellis is also too reminiscent of people Ive known as. well it's soooo. Like Ellis cares but he's so much more aloof about it and the would piss me the FUCK off. But anyways Ramona and Oona were a scarily accurate lesbian portrayal, ESPECIALLY the ending I was like OH!. Ramona lowkey did be pissing me off the whole season tho. Ik she was grieving and honestly the portrayal of her depression was also scarily accurate. Maybe I resonated with her too much tbh. SPOILERRR her choosing NYC at the end and Annie staying in SP was a really nice callback to the beginning though. Overall the dialogue this entire season was perfect it felt so real and also human while they also had absolutely beautiful cinemetography to back it up. Wish there were more black people that weren't the disposable gf trope or side characters though... ALSO sully??? ABSOLUTELY needed more of them on my screen.
Accidentally In Love (From "Shrek 2" Soundtrack)Video
One of the best love songs ever made. the verses are so memorable with a mini bridge sandwiched between the chorus's. the structure, the diction, the amount of whimsy in this song is unmatched. plus since it was made specifically for the Shrek 2 soundtrack, it makes it even more special of a song. Genuinely nothing brings me happiness like this song does.
Movie/TVone of the greats up there with sonic 2 and the god father. Mike the mouse hard carried and that's why sing 2 sucks because it does not include him. very great movie with very great songs!
